Having trouble sleeping? This could help!
Nov 8th, 2009 at 6:19pm

I've been having a lot of trouble sleeping lately. I haven't been able to figure out why. Well, this weekend we went to our little camp and we forgot to pack the sodas. I slept 11 hours the first night and 10 hours last night! I haven't been able to sleep like that in YEARS! That was the problem, all the soda I'd been drinking. I didn't think caffeine affected me at all as I couldn't feel it. Little did I know it was THAT that was keeping me awake!!

Cut soda out of your diet for 24 hours and see if that doesn't help!!

yup, I found that out a long time ago.

I can tell ya something else, go completely caffeine free cold turkey and your body will be mad at you for about a week.

No prob. What shocked me was that when I slept 11 hours, 11 hours later, from waking at 9am to going to bed at 8pm, I slept another 10 effortlessly. That is so unlike me. I've been so tired and grumpy lately because I couldn't get to bed. I'd sit in the bed WIRED and awake at 1am even after having done my workout and been up since 7am the day before.

It all makes sense now. No more coke after supper on school nights!

I drink the caffeine free diet sodas, lots of them. I do still drink 2 cups of coffee first thing in the morn.

once you get that caffeine out of your body you will have more energy too. You will though drag until it gets out. That's what I did anyway, you're young and probably wont be able to tell.  Grin

I stopped soda intake many years ago, and cut to 1 cup of coffee in the morn, still cant sleep much. Saturday I put in 17 hours, got up early (4:30 am) got home about midnight, could not get to sleep until about 2 am then up at 5:30 am but I have been that way all my life but when I was younger I dont remember feeling so tired!

I did want to update and say that I have not had any trouble sleeping since I did this. If I do splurge and swig a soda pop right before I crash for the night it's a caffeine free soda.

I sleep like a baby now.
